Dr. David Mee-Lee is a leading expert in co-occurring substance use and mental disorders with over 30 years experience in person-centered treatment and program development. He is not your usual psychiatrist, nor is he your usual educator. He writes and speaks in down-to-earth, jargon-free language and makes learning challenging and enjoyable. Audiences consistently express satisfaction with his combination of rich content and practical approach delivered in his engaging style. His down-to-earth upbringing in Australia coupled with his Chinese heritage make for an interesting mix of dry humor and quiet wisdom.

David is a Board-certified psychiatrist and is certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM). David has trained and consulted for hundreds of organizations, ranging from small mental health centers to government departments and national behavioral healthcare companies. David has also authored a number of book chapters and papers in a variety of professional publications. He is Chief Editor of the ASAM Patient Placement Criteria and is the Senior Vice President for The Change Companies?.

David's medical, psychiatric and addictions training began in his home country of Australia. From there it took him to Ohio, Massachusetts, Hawaii and eventually California. He has trained and consulted in almost every US state, and his international work has taken him to Australia, Japan, Singapore, Germany, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.K.

Associate Professor Robert Ali is a Public Health Physician and Addiction Medicine specialist who has worked in the drug and alcohol field since 1985. He is currently the Director of Community-Based Treatment Interventions at the Drug & Alcohol Services of South Australia and is also the Director of a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for research into the treatment of drug and alcohol problems based at Adelaide University. He is a member of the Cochrane Alcohol and Drug Group editorial board and an executive member of the Australian National Council on Drugs, the principle advisory group to the Prime Minister. Robert is a member of the WHO Expert Advisory Panel on Drug Dependence and Alcohol Problems. He was the Chair of the National Expert Advisory Committee on Illicit Drugs in Australia from 1998-2004 and Chair of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine (Royal Australasian College of Physicians) from 2004-2007.

Dr. Adrian Dunlop is Area Director, Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services for the Hunter New England Area Health Service, Conjoint Associate Professor in the School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle, Foundation Fellow of the Chapter of Addiction Medicine (Chair of the NSW/ACT branch) and President of the Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs.

Associate Professor Goh Lee Gan is currently Head of the newly formed Division of Family Medicine in the University Medicine Cluster, National University Health System (NUHS). He has several interests: developing family medicine (general practice) in Singapore and Asia Pacific region; contributing to make the world a better place to live in; and exploring the mind-body connect. He is currently President of the College of Family Physicians, Singapore. He was immediate past Regional President, World Organisation of Family Doctors (Wonca), Asia Pacific region; past president of the Singapore Medical Association. For his contribution to Singapore as Chairman of the Ministry of Health’s AIDS Task Force, he was awarded the Public Service Star (BBM).

Dr. David C. Hodgins, is a professor in the Program in Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychology of Calgary, Canada. Dr. Hodgins is also a coordinator with the Alberta Gaming Research Institute. His research interests focus on various aspects of addictive behaviours including relapse and recovery from substance abuse and gambling disorders.


Dr. Andrew PEH

Dr Andrew PEH works in the areas of mood and anxiety disorders, substance use disorders and cognitive behaviour psychotherapy. He obtained his medical degree and Masters in Medicine (Psychiatry) from the National University of Singapore and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Previously in private practice, he is now Senior Consultant with the Division of Psychological Medicine, Changi General Hospital, where he is in charge of the consultation liaison psychiatry and addiction medicine programmes. He is Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and also Associate Programme Director in the National Psychiatry Residency. He was appointed Associate Editor of the Singapore Medical Journal in 2004. In addition, he is the author of several books.


Dr. David POWELL

Dr. David Powell is President of the International Center for Health Concerns, Inc., and the Clinical Supervision Institute and has trained for the past 34 years on clinical supervision and other topics in 50 states and 87 countries. His nine books on health care and substance abuse are major texts in the field and his book, Clinical Supervision in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling, (2004)is considered the primary book on the subject in the substance abuse field. He was the chair and lead author of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, Treatment Improvement Protocol #52 on clinical supervision. He serves on the editorial board of several journals, including The Clinical Supervisor, and The Addiction Treatment Quarterly.. He holds four master’s degrees in psychology, counseling, Islamic Studies, and medical ethics. He was a resident graduate at Harvard University and holds a doctoral degree in counseling and psychology. He served on advisory boards of Harvard Medical School and Johns Hopkins University and taught at Princeton and Yale Universities. In 2009 he was given the President’s Award by the National Association of Addiction Professionals for his lifetime contribution to the addictions field.

Dr. Powell has been in the counseling field since 1965 and is a certified clinical supervisor in the alcohol and drug abuse and in sex therapy fields. He is a licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist, and Diplomat in the International Academy of Behavioral Medicine and Psychotherapy. He is one of a hundred persons in the US that began the EAP movement in 1972 and started in 1972 the first state EAP for New Jersey and 55,000 state employees and 110,000 municipal employees. He was a founding member of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association.

Dr. Adrian Scarfe is an experienced and innovative clinician, trainer and communicator. As Head of Clinical Services at GamCare he was responsible for pioneering the first national problem gambling helpline in the UK and overseeing GamCare’s care and counselling services for problem and pathological gamblers and their families. Currently, he is the Clinical Training and Development Director at GamCare.

Dr. Sivakumar Thurairajasingam currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry at the Clinical School of Monash University Malaysia, Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at the Mood Disorders Clinic in Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru, Consultant physician at the National Anti-Narcotics Agency Methadone Substitution Clinic and a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Kluang Specialist Centre.
His areas of interest are in the field of addiction psychiatry, mood disorders and co-morbidities.

Dr. Benny BONG

Dr. Benny Bong is trained as a Family and Marital Therapist and has a Master of Social Work degree from McGill University of Canada. Since 1981, he has worked with various social service and governmental agencies. In 2001, Benny started his own private counselling and training company. His current company is called The Family Therapist.

One of the issues that Benny has an interest with is helping clients manage their anger and violent behaviour. About twenty years ago, together with a few others, he started the Society Against Family Violence, a non-profit organisation devoted to reducing family violence in Singapore. He is particularly interested in helping men with their struggles involving anger, violence and addictions.


Ms Evelyn Boon

Ms Evelyn Boon is a senior prinipal psychologist with Singapore General Hospital and deputy director of the SGH Eating Disorders Programme She graduated from University of Sydney and is a certified Masters Addiction Counsellor and Examiner for the certification of substance abuse counsellors Her work involves dealing with patients who have Diabetes, Renal Failure, Eating Disorders and other psychological diagnosis.


Ms Florence Chiang

Ms Florence Chiang has been an occupational therapist in SGH for more than five years. Her clinical experience includes working with patients with eating disorders, general psychiatric disorders and burn injuries. She also has a keen interest in wellness intervention. Florence was one of the recipients of the team-based Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) award for fellowship and training in Motivational Enhancement Therapy in Eating Disorders in February 2009 in USA.


Dr. Kit Ng

Dr. Kit S. Ng brings with him 20 years' clinical experience in relationship therapy, addiction disorders, child psychology, couple therapy, family therapy, individual psychotherapy and consultation with different companies on employee issues. In the last decade, he served in two universities as Professor in Psychology and Family Therapy. He directed two graduate programs in Psychology at Kean University in New Jersey, while running his private practice which also covered the New York City area. He completed his doctoral internship at the renowned Southwest Family Institute in Dallas, Texas under the supervision of Robert Beaver, MD., a nationally known psychiatrist, writer and researcher in family systems theory. He is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA), American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy AAMFT), Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) and The Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) ..His advanced clinical training includes working with sex addicts, with Dr Patrick Carnes (formerly from the Halzelden Treatment Center), sex therapy training with Dr Ruth Westheimer and training on co-dependent systems with Pia Melody and John Bradshaw. Dr Ng has authored two books: Counseling Asian Families from a Systems Perspective (1998) and Global Perspectives in Family Therapy (2003), published more than a dozen professional papers and conducted over 100 presentations and workshops. He was also honored with The Richard A. Schere Applied Clinical Research Award by the New Jersey Psychology Association.


Mr Abdul Hadi Bin Kamarolzaman

Mr Abdul Hadi Bin Kamarolzaman is a Registered Mental Health Nurse accredited by both Singapore Nursing Board and the Nurses Board of Victoria, Australia. He graduated from University of Melbourne with a Master of Nursing (Mental Health) following basic nursing training from University of Southern Queensland and Nanyang Polytechnic. He possesses clinical experience in nursing patients with eating disorders and general psychiatric disorders. His area of interest is in psychiatric nursing education and is currently a lecturer from Ngee Ann Polytechnic


Rev. Sam KUNA

Rev. Sam Kuna has taken on the position as the Dean, School of Counselling with TCA College. Originally trained in Aeronautical Engineering since October 1 2009, he subsequently studied counselling with Counselling and Care Centre(Singapore), and furthered his studies in Psychology (BA) and Marriage and Family Therapy (MA) in the USA. He is a Family Therapist (AMFTS), and trained Addiction Counsellor & Clinical Supervisor.

He is the current President of the Association of Christian Halfway Houses, and Adviser to the Association of Christian Counsellors. He was a former President of the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC). Rev Sam Kuna is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God of Singapore and previously served for more than 20 years as the Executive Director of Teen Challenge (Singapore) helping teens, youth offenders, substance abusers as well as the reintegration of ex-offenders in Singapore.

He is also a public speaker, trainer and adjunct lecturer in several training institutions and is a recognised social entrepreneur. He actively participates in seminars, talks, and conferences in churches, schools, and community organizations. He is passionate about reaching youth caught in addictions and is currently on a working committee with NCPG to draft a preventive programme for youth on the dangers of problem gambling.


Dr. Lee Huei Yen

Dr. Lee Huei Yen graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (MBBCh), and was awarded the MMed (Psychiatry) by the National University of Singapore after completing her psychiatric training in Singapore. Her area of interest is in Eating Disorders. She was awarded the SGH Fellowship and worked at the Eating Disorder Unit, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Stanford University. She is currently a consultant in the department of Psychiatry and also the director of the Eating Disorder Programme at SGH.


Dr. NG Beng Yeong

Dr. Ng Beng Yeong is currently a senior consultant psychiatrist and Head of Department of Psychiatry, Singapore General Hospital. His main areas of interest are in sleep disorders, mood disorders and neuropsychiatry. He is also Chairman of Lejia Society, a society that focuses on educating the public on various aspects of mental health. He has recently edited a book 'A life of its own -- understanding depression and its treatments.'


Ms Marjorie NIXON

Ms. Nixon co-founded the first private freestanding outpatient clinic to treat addictive diseases in the State of Wisconsin, U.S.A. in the late seventies. Those in her field consider her a pioneer in working with women in recovery. She maintained a private practice in Milwaukee WI., as well as trained and consulted in the field of addictive disorders both in the States as well as in Singapore until coming to Japan to work in Family Advocacy, Domestic Violence, U.S. Air Force in 2003.

She left FA in 2005 to join CAMP at IMH, as Principal Therapist. She left CAMP in 2007 and returned to Singapore in July 2008 to become the Program Director for We Care Community Services.

Ms Nixon enjoys clinical work as well as training and consulting particularly in the area of addictive diseases.


Ms Elizabeth PANG

Upon graduation from the University of Melbourne on a Colombo Plan Scholarship, Ms Elizabeth Pang joined the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and Woodbridge Hospital. She was then awarded a fellowship to do her postgraduate studies in clinical psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, University of London (1991-1993). Having served on various administrative and professional committees within and outside of the hospital, Ms Pang was designated Deputy Head of the Department of Psychology in 1997. She was also awarded with a National Day Efficiency Medal in 1999.

She transferred to the Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports as Head of the Psychological Services Unit (PSU) in Dec 2000. The Unit served the clients within the Rehabilitation, Protection and Residential Services Division as well as clients from other divisions within the Ministry and affiliated Voluntary Welfare Organisations. From May 2006 to April 2008, she returned to IMH as Head, Allied Health and Principal Psychologist in the Community Addictions Management Programme. Since May 2008, she commenced her private practice with Raffles Hospital as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and as Visiting Consultant Psychologist with PSU, MCYS.

Married with three children, Ms Pang has accumulated over 20 years of experience in the mental health and social service sectors. She continues to be involved in the wider community of psychologists within the civil service and other agencies. Her areas of interest include women’s mental health issues, affective disorders (especially depression), anxiety disorders, addiction, parenting and family issues, psychological reactions in disasters and trauma and offending behaviours.


Mr POH Yeang Cherng

Mr Poh Yeang Cherng is a prominent speaker on cyber wellness, particularly on understanding pathological gaming. With an up-to-date knowledge of games and the gaming scene, he has helped many professionals cross the digital divide to reach youths.
He served on the National Internet Advisory Committee’s Cyber Wellness Task Force (2002-2005), and worked to develop a set of cyber wellness values, ethics and best practices, promoting cyber wellness at the national level. He also designed and implemented Cyber Wellness Training Templates for the Media Development Authority.

Ms Michelle Shi Min Fang

Ms Michelle Shi Min Fang has 9 years of working experience in the hospital as a state Registered Nurse and 2 years as Program Coordinator and Counselor of the Smoking Cessation Clinic in the Singapore General Hospital. She is a certified quit smoking consultant accredited by Health Promotion Board, Singapore. She is also a certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist accredited by Mayo Clinic Nicotine Dependence Center, USA. She provides individual counseling sessions to smoker both in inpatient and outpatient settings and she conducts talks internally and externally. Her area of interest is related to smoking cessation which includes counseling, education and research.

Ms Vivien Yap

Ms Vivien Yap is a UK trained Chartered Counselling Psychologist who works in the Singapore General Hospital seeing general and eating disorder cases. She is also a director of her company "Turning the Tide Pte Ltd" offering psychotherapy services. Vivien uses motivational interviewing, CBT and psychodynamic therapy with her patients.

Mr Anthony Yeong

Mr Anthony Yeong is the resident counsellor at TC&S. He is one of the first counsellors in Singapore who specialises in counselling youths with gaming issues. He has counselled more than 100 pathological gamers over the last three years.
He has conducted cyber wellness seminars for educators, social workers, counsellors and other professionals in the area of counselling pathological gamers, both in Singapore and China.
